Annoyed with Scriabin Piano Scriabin

Annoyed with Scriabin!

How could he be so inconsiderate as to compose ONLY ONE Piano Concerto?! It’s a beautiful piece of music and I wonder why he  didn’t compose more? Very inconsiderate.

If you have the time, listen to all three movements. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Hey Jim, long time no see 🙂

I feel your pain on Scriabin’s lack of concertos, his early works prior to his 5th sonata (where he goes into experimentation) are absolutely beautiful and lyrical pieces.

The reason why I think he doesn’t write anymore piano concertos is because; at that period of time after Op. 20 and above he begins to experiment with his so called synthetic colours in music. Thats when everything gets mad and atonal!

However, the thing I find most interesting about Scriabin’s atonal piece is that they are definitely not 12-toned in the Schoenberg-ian sense, take his piano sonatas for example (starting from the 5th sonata to the tenth). Scriabin is a fascinating composer and one of my absolute favs. I just wished that he stayed at his early period of composition more. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this in one of my e-mails to you but I urge you to listen to his Symphony No. 1 in E major, which I believe is the pinnacle of his early works!
