Sublime Send Off

Once again I’ll be off the air for a while during the time we are moving up north. From Central Victoria to the Sunshine Coast. Since we are house-sitting while we search for our new home, I won’t have access to my music collection (unless I do some ‘cloud solution’ real soon!) So … here is a sublime send off.

I only ‘discovered’ Bach French suites and his Preludes and Fugues recently. My Bach collection has been lacking for a long time!

What glorious music, and perfect to de-stress during moving!

Clara Haskel, pianist. Right? It’s a pleasant interpretation. I went to Naxos and found a pianist that sounds like the one you chose. Olli Mustonen. He has an album combining Shostakovich with Bach preludes and fugues. Maybe I can handle the Shostakovich. I am changing my Bach appreciation and prefer contemplative interpretations that build the theme slowly and with quiet deliberation. The more rapid interpretations have a brighter feel but there seems something lost. I bought the Angela Hewitt preludes and fugues and have liked them, but they are too swift, but she finds the music and that’s not that easy. She is very thoughtful. These pianist are incomparably better than I, except technique tends to take over and the gentler version is lost. It’s difficult to measure. I’m a little interested in Steven Osburne who also performs for Hyperion. Thanks Jim.

Nicest Bach I’ve heard in a while!
