Done to Death but still Irresistible

Rachmaninoff – Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini. Heaps of these versions on a “theme by Paganini” by a number of Interperters and Composers. I like this particular one by Rachmaninoff /Performed by John Barry from “Somewhere in Time” - The movie.

Not sure if this is the best version (by the St. Louis Symphony) – But it’s good enough!

I saw this at bedtime and explored it
for an hour. I’ll keep coming back until I’ve heard it all.
My classical LPs were resurrected a
few months ago, and this is like sharing,
sorta.

Hi Jim,
The Fantasia on “Greensleeves” is such a timeless, beautiful piece, with an air of serenity. It evokes nostalgia for the Merrie England which was supposed to have existed, ( but I expect that was a fallacy!)
I think that “Greensleeves” was the first record that I bought, a 78, so you will relise how long ago that must have been. I am pleased to say that the sound quality has much improved in recordings since then!
Regards,
Polly.
